- Technical evaluation of Water Sector Projects prepared by WAPDA, Provincial Irrigation Departments and other agencies;
- Expert advice to the Ministry of Water Resources and concerned agencies;
- Expert advice is given on any engineering matter as and when referred by the Ministry of Water Resources and concerned agencies;
- Render advice/comments (as and when asked) on related International disputes arising out of the works constructed or likely to be constructed in neighboring countries having repercussions on the river flows of Pakistan;
- General liaison with international organizations in matters related to water resources, e.g. irrigation, drainage, flood control, etc.
- Pakistan is a member of the International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage (ICID) since 1953. The Civil Engineering Cell works as the Secretariat of Pakistan National Committee of ICID (PANCID)

- National Water Sharing Issues dealt and Expert Advices Rendered on around nine (09) issues;
- Bilateral International Collaborations Dealt during 2020 with regard to i) Sino – Pakistan Smart Water Management Project – Phase-I, ii) Urban Flood Management and Rainwater Harvesting in Islamabad, iii) MoU’s between Hungary & Pakistan in the field of Water Management;
- Issues dealt related to National Water Policy (NWP), enhanced Allocations for Water Sector under Federal PSDP, Construction of Water Storages/Dams, Rainwater Harvesting, Establishment of Groundwater Regulatory Authorities, Water Use Efficiency and Conservation, lining of Distributaries & Minors, Modernization of Irrigation and Drainage System, Flood Protection;
- Implementation Framework of National Water Policy;
- Role as PANCID Secretariat;
- Important more than fourteen (14) Meetings Attended/ Organized;
- National Report on SDG Indicator 6.5.1;
